For Introduction to Painting, you can use tempera, acrylic, gouache, or watercolors. You do not need to purchase new materials if you already have paints.

If you need to purchase materials, click the button below the supply lists to buy the materials and have them shipped directly to your door!

 

You can also use these materials for ArtLabs on Monday evenings.

For Tempera

  • Blick Brand Premium Tempera – all other brands are NOT recommended.
    • Must have
      • Red
      • Yellow
      • Black
      • White
    • Optional
      • Green
      • Blue
      • Brown
      • Orange
  • Bristle brushes
  • Plastic palette with paint wells
  • 5x7in watercolor paper
  • Paper towels or rag to wipe brush
  • Cup for water to wash brushes

Optional supplies

  • Wooden skewers
  • Painting clothes or Apron
  • Gloves

For Acrylics

  • Acrylic paints, any brand
    • Must have
      • Primary Red
      • Primary Yellow
      • Primary Blue
      • Mars Black
      • Titanium White
    •  Optional
      • Cadmium Orange Hue
      • Permanent Green Light
      • Quinacridone Magenta
      • Burnt Umber
  • Bristle brushes
  • Palette paper, or plastic or paper plate to pour colors on
  • 8x8in canvas (size is up to you)
  • Paper towels or rag to wipe brushes
  • Cup for water to wash brushes

Optional supplies

  • Mist bottle
  • Wooden skewers
  • Palette knife to mix colors
  • Gloves
  • Painting clothes or Apron
  • 9x12in canvas pad for color mixing classes
