Live Online Summer Art Camps

for Teen Artists

Prima Materia Institute is offering online summer art camps for students entering grades 6 – 12. Each theme-based art camp will be taught live from 1:00 to 2:30 PM Pacific Time, Monday through Friday.

Each week, a different art camp will introduce teen artists to the techniques of painting and drawing in the form of integrated learning. Designed by Olya Losina, a professional artist and the creator of the Losina Method, these special weekly projects will fuel students’ love for art and open their mind to how to see color, express form in the variety of styles, depict light, shadows, and texture, and help them build artistic skills. Most importantly, the participants will learn how to create authentic art and have a blast creating serious art.

A student can register for one or all of the camps this summer. Join anytime. Space is limited, enroll early.

Each online camp can be done with the supplies you already own. Minimally, you will need a pencil, eraser, sharpener, and a 9×12-inch drawing pad. For a complete list of recommended, optional supplies, click here.

The Next Shiny Object

July 20 – July 24, 1pm – 2:30pm Pacific Time

No experience necessary, for students grades 6 – 12

Cost: $180

This expression is often used as a metaphor for “getting easily distracted”, but we will take it literally in this summer art camp. Learn to paint and draw shiny objects – that are considered to be only possible to the “professional level” of skills: silver and gold, highly polished surfaces, sparkling eyes, and raindrops on leaves or flower petals. Find out how easy it is to create the shine – it is the technique that makes it possible: after these five days every participant will have this skill. Supply list

Great Masters, Meet Contemporary Teens

July 27 – July 31, 1pm – 2:30pm Pacific Time

No experience necessary, for students grades 6 – 12

Cost: $180

Paintings by the Great Masters are awesome. They will teach us how to compose, draw, and paint realistically. Recreate their work in your own way, invite their characters into the 21st century, treat them with our fast food, give them a box of french fries and a coke, hand them a cell phone, earphones, a player, and a pair of sneakers, and let them wear your beanie. Transform that historic painting by adding your thoughts and sayings into a cool piece of contemporary art. Supply list
