Learn to create drawings and sketches directly with a brush, with no preparatory pencil outlines. The success of these sketches is in quantity - which with practice, develops into quality. We will create several drawings, using paper or canvas as the substrate, or both. If it is on canvas, then you will sketch with black acrylic; if it is paper, then you’ll use black tempera. The restraint that you exercise by using just one color provides the cohesive quality to the entire collection. This training will be valuable for those students who feel that they are too uptight when painting, as a way to loosen up and get in the R-bran flow. The beauty and grace of black and white Matisse-like art may be appealing to those art buyers who value elegance and monochrome appearance, which truly is more versatile for any taste and any wall in any room.

This is the case when more is more! We will have only two classes for this work, but each day is expected to yield more art than almost any other typical lesson- from 3 to 5 artworks per class! We will be working with still lifes with delightful objects, details, and textures.

Graduates and participants of the Essential Drawing Course are welcome: this is a great way to try brushes instead of dry drawing media.
