When you travel, if you mostly rely on your photo camera, what if you could capture each sight in a sketchbook? What if you could do it better than a camera? Being able to sketch is a very satisfying experience, especially if you do it to preserve your memories.

This course is about the light in the city and how it changes from morning to night. You will learn how to handle the atmosphere by pre-coloring your pages, “build” streets in perspective, capture the city’s special flavor by adding details, trees, and figures, and keep your first impression in each sketch.

Imagine how fascinating it is to be able to sit down and recreate the glow of the street lamps in the evening, the delicate tints of pink on buildings at sunrise, the tiled roofs bathing in the warm light of midday, in your sketchbook! Plus, expressing not just what you see but how you feel in that moment is something your camera can’t do.

You will learn:

This Urban Sketching course will help illustrators, animators, writers/storytellers, teachers, architects, designers, engineers, or artists who paint and draw too slowly. Anyone who wants to open your Right-brain - the creative hemisphere of the brain, will experience it through learning to sketch in this new course.

Beginners are welcome. If you are thinking about buying this course, but not sure about your drawing ability, start with our 12-lesson Essential Drawing Course for Beginners and learn foundational skills prior to taking Urban Sketching.

All the graduates of the Essential Drawing Course are welcome; you are 100% qualified to join Urban Sketching.
