- Watercolor pad 12x16” or larger, up to 18x24”
- Tempera paints (Blick Premium Tempera brand only please), colors: white, black, yellow, red, blue, green, orange.
- Palette options: freezer paper or paper plates
- Cotton rags - soft cotton from old T-shirts (optional: paper towels of high quality)
- Charcoal
Optional materials for more experienced artists:
The main project can be done in oils or acrylics on large unstretched canvas, mounted on the wall.
- Oil paints or acrylic paints. Bring colors that you already have.
- Recommended colors: Titanium white, Mars black, Quinacridone magenta, Raw umber, Cadmium red light, Cadmium yellow light, Ultramarine blue, Cobalt green. You can add any other colors you like.
- Canvas can be either stretched or unstretched, size of your choice, but it needs to be primered/gessoed. You may need 4 to 8 pieces of canvas (depending on your experience with portraits, your temperament, and your choice of the degree of realism)
- Cotton rags - soft cotton from old T-shirts (optional: paper towels of high quality)
- Charcoal of any kind (if the format of canvas is oversized, charcoal can be attached to a dowel)
