Day One:
- 3 brushes: 1) large flat bristle brush, 2) fan brush, 3) calligraphy brush;
- 70 sheets of white paper (even though generic white printer paper is OK, if you want your sketches to feel more substantial, bring cardstock instead.
Day Two:
- 3 different brushes (different from the Day One): 1) glue brush, 2) sponge brush, 3) toothbrush
- 70 sheets of white paper
Day Three:
After 5 quick sketches as warm-up, we’ll work on a larger size figure on a single drawing paper, using the brush of your choice.
Materials for sketching:
- 5 white 8x10” white cardstock
- diluted black tempera
- one of the brushes we used in our sketching marathon.
Materials for large drawing:
- 18x24” drawing paper or watercolor paper
- support board
- clamps
- diluted black tempera
- one of the brushes from the first two days of sketching.
Day Four
After making 5 sketches as a warm-up, switch to a large paper to create a second drawing with a different brush - one of those that you enjoyed the most in the first two days of sketching.
Materials for sketching:
- 5 white 8x10” white cardstock
- diluted black tempera
- one of the brushes
Materials for large drawing:
- 18x24” watercolor paper (options: mixed media paper, or drawing paper)
- diluted black tempera
- support board (foam board or wood)
- clamps
- one of the brushes that you enjoyed the most during the first two days of the sketching marathon.
