- Four 8x10" primered and stretched canvases, for creating studies
- Four 30x40" canvas
- They can be either stretched or unstretched, but the canvas must be primered! - for creating studies and practice pieces.
- Have a support board and clamps for mounting it if you choose an unstretched canvas.
- Latex house paint (it should be flat, not gloss or semigloss): you can order the following colors in sample size from any home-remodel or paint store:
- Green (Jungle DE5677)
- Yellow (Summer Sun DE5405)
- Red (Red Power DEA108)
- Blue (Beautiful Blue DEA136)
- Magenta (Razzle Dazzle DE5027)
- Black (Black DEA187, clear base)
- White (White -1 DEW380)
- You can order additional colors if you’d like (by picking from the store’s display of color swatches), such as orange, aqua, violet, lime-green, burgundy, olive, etc. (these extra colors are optional, not mandatory, but fun to have).
- Palette knife with a 3-inch-long metal blade with a slightly rounded tip
- 4-5 bristle brushes in various sizes (from #6 to #20), flats, filberts, brights, and rounds.
- Roll of paper towels
- Push pins
- Plenty of newspapers to protect your floor (an option is a drop cloth or tarp)
PLEASE NOTE: this technique can NOT be done with regular acrylic paints from the tube. Oil paints from the tube will work well for this technique, but oil is not recommended unless you have a very large designated studio space with good ventilation where you can afford to leave multiple oil paintings to dry for a few weeks. Latex is best. Our recommendation to use latex house paint will save you a lot of money on paint and allow you to be generous with paint without worrying about the cost (the psychology behind the ability to achieve freedom in painting and effortlessness!)
