Olya Losina is a Russian-born artist, art educator and the founder of Prima Materia Art Institute.

Olya Losina was born in Moscow and grew up in a family of professional artists. Her upbringing exposed her to the bohemian circle of Moscow painters and illustrators, two private art schools, and the art faculty of Moscow University. Losina's Russian art education emphasized versatility and contemporary approaches rather than pure academism. Her love for art began at a young age, and she became an artist before becoming an art teacher. She recognized that teaching was her calling after experiencing how the right teacher could make a student fall in love with a subject. Losina's education also included working in a small film studio, earning an MFA, and working as an art director for Progress International Publishers. She visited the United States in 1991 for a brief vacation and found herself unable to return to Moscow after the Soviet Union broke down. She started her own art school in the United States.

Today, Losina and her family own and operate Prima Materia Art Institute, where they pursue the mission of bringing deep art appreciation to everyone.

"Elevate Art Education to the Status of Literacy."
