Figure: Mixed Media & Negative Shapes

We will create gestural poses by means of negative shapes, i.e. we will direct our focus to the space that surrounds the figures. We will start this with our warm-up practice to create multiple studies before we shift to the main project, where we will paint the negative shapes, and add charcoal to define the body. We will spend 2 weeks on one drawing, refining it step by step. In two classes, you'll learn everything you need to know about the technique, and on the third class, you'll create a new artwork from start to finish.

By the end of the course, you'll have two completed mixed media drawings.
