Trompe l'oeil means "cheat the eye" or “optical deception” in French. Such illusionistic painting is fun to paint and entertaining to look at: it not only fools the eye, it tricks the mind. Want to impress your guests? Join us and learn how to create this highly realistic illusion on canvas. Trompe l'œil painting tricks the viewer into perceiving painted objects as real. You will learn how to design and create such pieces step-by-step from start to finish. The technique employs perspective and foreshortening to achieve the impression of reality. A trompe l’oeil seems to open the wall to a deeper space and at the same time makes objects appear to pop off the wall.

Bring your inventiveness, sense of humor, and a mind open to learning.

This course is for intermediate level students who have already learned color mixing.
