During this three week course, you will create three landscape paintings using the beautiful medium of soft pastels and complete one drawing per week. We’ll be studying pastel works by Degas, Monet, Morisot, and other Impressionist masters, and the instructor will show you the step-by-step process of creating pastel paintings in the Impressionist style with a variety of landscapes references. Open to all levels.

In this course, you'll experience a deep sense of how speed and time transform your drawing process and artistic expression by creating four dynamic artworks: two bursting with quick, gestural energy and two with more developed, intentional figures.

In 12 classes, you’ll learn the techniques of drawing from the beginning. The drawings above are by students who joined this course as absolute beginners. You will build the skills by rendering objects and environments with a teaching method found nowhere else. All drawings will be created in monochrome (black and white) to focus on the basics: light and shadow, line, and dimension.
